Lucy Liu is on the Rise

Lucy Liu will topline the horror-thriller Rise for Ghost House Pictures, reports Variety. Written and to be directed by Sebastian Gutierrez, the film will begin principal photography this summer.

Liu will play a reporter who wakes up in a morgue and discovers she's no longer among the living. She vows revenge against the vampires responsible for putting her there and hunts them down one by one.

Ghost House, a genre production label formed by Mandate Pictures together with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, is fully financing the film

Liu will next be seen in Tony Scott's Domino for New Line.

Fivesome Joins Wes Craven's Breed

Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, Oliver Hudson, Hill Harper and Eric Lively will star in the independent horror film The Breed. First Look Media and DEJ Productions have acquired worldwide rights, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Breed follows five young friends who vacation on a peaceful deserted island only to discover that the canines they befriend are genetically altered and possess a frighteningly high level of intelligence -- with an appetite to match.

Lost star Ian Somerhalder had been announced to star in the film but since has dropped out.

Wes Craven is executive producing. His longtime collaborator Nick Mastandrea is making his directorial debut on the project. The film begins shooting on Monday in South Africa. A U.S. release is tentatively scheduled for the fourth quarter.

Fred Durst pitches reality/talk show

''My Life with Fred Durst'' would show the Limp Bizkit frontman interviewing and hanging out with celebrities

You'd think, after his recent Internet sex scandal, that the last place Fred Durst would want to be is in front of a video camera. Nonetheless, Variety reports, the Limp Bizkit frontman is shopping to TV outlets a reality series where he'd interview and hang out with celebrities. Called My Life with Fred Durst, the one-hour show would mix star chatter with slice-of-life scenes of Durst as a father, businessman, and musician, according to producers Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment. (That's the firm behind the upcoming how-to-be-a-socialite reality show starring Paris Hilton's mom, Kathy.)

''I just want to have a spontaneous platform to have good conversations with people, who aren't necessarily on the show to sell a movie or product,'' Durst told Variety. ''I'm not interested in being controversial and pushing envelopes.''

Fans who can't wait to catch Durst on TV should watch upcoming episodes of NBC's miniseries Revelations. On the April 20 show, Durst makes his acting debut as a Satanist who kidnaps the son of hero Bill Pullman. Meanwhile, he's also working on his day job, putting the finishing touches on The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), the first Limp Bizkit album since guitarist Wes Borland return to the fold.
