Re: Exorcist: The Beginning
I haven't seen this yet but the first one scared the piss out of me. That was back when they can make a scary ass movie and not have it loaded with blood and guts.

Same thing happened to me after I watched the Blair Witch Project. A lot of people I knew said it didn't phase them at all but it gave me the fuckin willies in a bad way

Re: Exorcist: The Beginning
Heh, I actually thought Blair Witch 2 was a better movie than the first one. I think I learned to never trust critics again after I saw the first one.

Re: Exorcist: The Beginning
Deliverence scared the piss out of me....Fucked me up for about 7-10 days dwelling about how I would react were I in that same scenario.....different kind of scary, but horrifying none-te-less.

[WARNING: Shameless, self-serving plug ahead]
Attached is a recording I did using the multi-track sequencer on my keyboard. It is a medley of the theme songs for The Exorcist and Halloween. It is my tribute to the ability of composers to make music extremely dark and scary.

Re: Exorcist: The Beginning
Here's another version which focuses only on the Halloween theme. I basically experimented with building tension be embelisshing the harmonies of the Strings with higher/lower octaves, building a new harmony each time through. Then dropping it down and building it up again. I have a Casio keyboard, which is normally associate with cheesy, lower quality sound samples, but this particular one has some really good sounds and the strings end up sounding pretty good because of it.
Anyway, leave the lights on if you listen to this one.

So it was The Exorcist/Halloween that started the road that has led you and I to Peanuts.

Re: Exorcist: The Beginning
I was a young kid when I saw the original Exorcist. That move, The Omen, and Pyscho all scared me shitless. They all did it without the seemingly necessary modern day gore either. To this day, thanks to these movies, I always look behind a shower curtain before taking a shit and keep a few night lights on in various parts of my house so as not to have it completely dark.
