Half Life 2 - anyone bought it yet?
Just thought I'd ask as a couple of known pc junkies at my work managed to go sick yesterday on the day of HL2's release. A remarkable occurance do you think? Still since they are not well enough to tell me if it is any good because of their mystery illnesses - how about you lot? Does it really spank Doom 3? ??

I'm waiting for it to come out on PC. I can't see myself buying an XBox for both Doom 3 and Halo 2 knowing that the XBox2 comes out next year. Wotta rip.

I have it! It is fantastic!! Much better (like night and day) over Doom III. I got it off Steam, but it hit retail yesterday. The graphics and storyline are outstanding so far.
I have managed to play about 7 hrs worth and have had very little sleep since last night....I heartily recommend it!!

I bought it yesterday. It is much better than Doom3. Although big differences are that the Doom series never had much of a story and Half Life had a good story to base on. Also graphics wise its great although I still cant wait until the day when all textures are hi-res. Runs about twice (at least) the frame rate of Doom3. Seem to be spending a lot of time in vehicles which is a nice change.

I probably won't buy it, as I haven't even got round to buying Max Payne 2 yet !
:icon_doh:
However, saw the advertisement for it on the TV last night. Seems to be aimed just at gamers. The half life 2 logo on the screen for a while, then the cover with a picture of Freeman and the words OUT NOW !
Got my attention, as I didn't know it was out, but I just know that if I buy it, the wife won't see me for a week ! Doubt that would go down to well !!!

Well, Doom 3 runs SO slowly on my machine that I reckon HL2 will walk all over it as an experience. And it's one of my top 3 games of all time...the original that is...I'M HAVING IT!

HL2 will scale to your hardware. The minimum specs will still provide a good gameplay experience...i have been having a blast. Take my word for it....it's a jewel!!
