Hero

Went and saw this movie last night... fantastic flick!!! puts crouching tiger ,, hidden dragon to shame in my opinion.... this has to be one of jet li's best performance to date in my opinion.. really good fighting scenes as well.. only thing i didnt care for was that the whole movie was subtitle and in chinese language,, so i had to read the subtitles.. still fantastic movie though.. cant wait to own it on dvd.

Re: Hero

Scott, I have a topic about that in here somewhere too. I thought the movie was great but we were sitting in the front because it was so packed and the fucking subtitles went by too fast to read most of the time. Still, you get the point of the movie but I go to a theater to see a movie, otherwise I would've gotten the book.

Re: Hero

Didn't know it had subtitles, but then I didn't know Passion Of The Christ had subtitles either.

Couple of minutes into the film and I didn't notice anymore. Dunno if that's just because they got the subtitle flow to the right speed ?

However, one important point to note is that I have been using subtitles all my life because of my hearing, so maybe I'm more used to them than most. In fact, this makes the movie appeal to me a lot more, so at first I CAN actually figure out what the f*** is going on !

Re: Hero

Well, i'll just say i loved the movie effects, the crowds, the beauty of the poetical images, the use of colors, the acting, the action, the scenery, and everything else.
But the message, in my humble opinion, boils down to one thing: it looks a lot like an apology -a justification- for tiranny and dictatorship...i cannot talk about the end, but given the efforts and sacrifices they went through, and given the outcome, and given the country in which this movie was made, this is a very well disguise form of politics...BUT...most people will enjoy it and won't question those things...i know i did enjoy it a lot...
