Re: I, Robot
It might be a good movie, looks like a complete abomination to Asimov though , I believe the whole point of the book was that robot's can't get all crazy and violent and violate the laws of robotics. Oh well. Lets see how it turns out.
Actually its probably a good thing they're raping Asimov like that, the movie might come out as boring as "AI" (although it had a most killer ending) otherwise. I, ROBOT makes for a decent read, just can't picture it as a non-indie movie though.

Re: I, Robot
Thanks for he Heads Up on this, I didn't know anything about it.
I have been a massive Asimov fan since the 70's...........yeah, I used to read his books as he was writing them!
I have seen the trailer and obviously the quality of the cgi is good but I will need quite some convincing that the story will be as good as the books.
Maybe I just prefer to read sci-fi and use my own imagination............lost count of the sci-fi films I have seen which were dissappointing.

Re: I, Robot
Puh-leaze.
I wonder how many times we'll be treated to Smith's "Aw, Hell Naww!" over-used one-liner.

Yeah, whats up with that? With the exception of the early Star Wars, Alien(s), a couple of Schwarzenegger films, and a Clockwork Orange, there's hardly any good sci-fi out there. They all come off looking like cheeze, or totally ruining the books they're based upon (i.e. Sphere ewww best book ever, but horrid film).
Hmmmm.
Oh yeah, I forgot, Forbidden Planet Mmmm.

Re: I, Robot
I get the feeling that a good sci-fi story is difficult to cut down to movie-size. Most sci-fi books are more intricate and reflective than you can get away in a flick.
In addition, sci-fi books are aften aimed at a certain, more intellectual readership that may not match the target audience that movie companies are after in most cases.
I believe that this is what leads to these films ending up being an endless stream of actions mind-blowing sequences, barely tied together by some sort of story somewhat related to the original book.
You have to appreciate that, and consider the balls it took Peter Jackson to make Lord Of The Rings. He must have fought hard to keep creative control, ending up with 9 hours of unprecedented, kickass action and story-telling.

Re: I, Robot
Yep, just checked out Rotten Tomatoes, turns out the movie has nothing to do with Asimov. That's pretty darn low stealing the title like that just to bring in the viewers. Am I gonna see it, Aww hell nah!
