Grammy winning? Don'tcha mean Oscar-winning? Nevertheless, I feel they could very well be considered the greatest in my time. (Dammit, your avatar has me hypnotized!!) Perfection in everyway possible with those movies!

I think it would have to be at least in the top five if not #1, with the extended editions IMHO it has the best DVD versions of any movies out there!

Re: lord of the rings ........ the greatest movie ever?

The first movie was amazing! The 2nd/3rd less so. I dunno they just lost the energy and uh "magic" of the first one I think. They got a bit cheezball with the walking/talking trees and all ghost army. Not really Jackson's fault though. However, the introduction of Gollum was more than enough to make up for the introduction of the Ents. That dude should have gotten best actor. But yeah as a 3 part movie it got repetitious and boring i think. The whole plot of the series was:

Travel from A to B, kill C.
Travel from B to C, kill D.
Travel from C to D, kill LOTS of E's.
And so on.

In between were some rather cool moments (like the stewart of Gondor roasting his son), but I think fighting took precedent over everything. ANd the fights seens were irritating (well actually the wideshots were GREAT, but the up close action sucked; wav to fast and you couldnt really see what was going on to well; with the exception of Aaragorn going mono e mono with that Big orc dude in the first one. Oh and Shelob MMMMMMmmmm.

Ok let me get REAL nerdy here, ever since I've read the Silmarillion I've been a Sauron fan. I mean, come on, the man like single-handidly destroyed the Numenoreans, gets beat down by some elder gods, and still comes back fighting. Awesome!

All 3 of them were great but only the first one would I feel comfortable as labelling was one of the best movies of all time. You know, up there in the ranks of:

1. The Matrix
2. Predator
3. Forbidden Planet
4. Memento
5. Network
6. Pulp Fiction
7. Blazing Saddles
8. Casablanca
9. Baby Snakes
10. Willy Wonka and the Chocalate Factory
11. Conan the Barbarian
12. The Neverending Story

Re: lord of the rings ........ the greatest movie ever?

Same here...love the trilogy and the Potter films are great fun. My wife knew someone on the first film and got my son an autographed picture of Harry, Ron and Hermione! I've been trying to sneak it onto eBay for ages but they are guarding the thing with alarms and alsorts of wierd Indiana Jones type tomfoolery. In terms of the best film, it depends on your agenda. For sheer collosus size and vision then Return of The King is mind-blowing. In terms of making me 'feel' then A.I, Pay It Forward and Monsters Ball leave me desolate at times. In terms of feelgood then it's gotta be Monsters Inc, Shrek, Iceage and Finding Nemo...once you have kids these films have meanings as a parent that can't be denied. Can't WAIT for Shrek 2!

Yeah, I've got Labyrinth on DVD, and Legend rocks. Man they had some cool fantasy stuff back then. Conan, Dragonslayer, Sword and the Sorcerer, Laserblast, Neverending Story (I actually think this is a better "movie" than Lord of the Rings, mindblowing plot), Dark Crystal, Princess Bride, Secret of Nimh....we need more stuff like that.

Labyrynth was a great Movie (and a difficult word to spell ).

Those pink creatues that could take their heads and limbs off and threatened to do the same to you scared the sh*t outta me !

Plus, I'm pretty sure I fancied the girl in it...

Mondo-Yeah Labyrinth was awesome, but you know whats even cooler? The soundtrack. Some awesome Bowie stuff on there "Dance magic dance", and some cool Herbie Hancock stuff (I can see where Dream Theater got their inspiration)

Yeah, I seem to remember that the soundtrack was rather good.

'Is Your Love Strong Enough' from Legend is awesome...Bryan Ferry (a Geordie!) on vocals, Dave Gilmour on giutar and Vangelis on keys...I love that track-it fits the story so well.
