Mulholland Drive meaning
Wow! This movie is awesome, it has one of the most beautiful a capella singing scene I've ever seen/heard, thank you Lynch, that will live in my memory until I no longer have a memory.
But uh, does anyone actually understand wth this movie is about? Here's my guess:
This movie is all about a blonde girl who comes to Hollywood to be an actress. However, in some kind of morality test ala Faust, divine forces conspire to deny her a decent acting job.
The blonde girl (possibly a lesbian) begins to obsess over a famous brunette actress, fantasizing that they are lovers, and that the brunette really wants to be just like the blonde girl in physical appearance (again, Im not sure if this is a sexual thing, it could just be a form of saying that the blonde really wants to be the brunette person).
In a moment of clarity, the blonde girl reailzes that the brunette is engaged to be married to a movie producer. Understandably upset, the blonde girl hires hitmen to kill the brunette.
Upon the death of the brunette, the blonde girl is unable to face her personal demons (represented by the elderly couple unleashed by the bum in the alley) and kills herself.
Now here is where the movie really starts. For her crime, the blonde girl must spend an eternity in hell, reliving the twisted events of her life in the form of a surrealistic nightmare.
The rest is silence(?)
You guys have any other ideas??
