Who else thinks that Spider Man as portraid in Spider Man 2 is a total pussy?
Spider Man: "Oh, I love
Mary Jane."
Mary Jane: "I love you Peter Parker"
Spider Man: "Oh no, I can't let that happen...I hate you Mary Jane....now everyone is safe"
Mary Jane: "Fine, I'm getting married"
Spider Man: "But I love you, don't do it!"
Mary Jane: "Ok"
Spider Man: "Nevermind, I changed my mind, I fucking hate you!"
The whole time I am thinking, "God this guy is a jerk!" It is one thing to try to keep the ones you love safe, and if you need to stay away from them to do so then yeah, that follows. But it seems to me that he just keeps using it as an excuse to keep from getting involved with the one woman he really thinks he loves because this scares the hell out of him. Poor Mary Jane gets tossed around like an emotional speed bag while he tries to decide if he has the strength to say, "Mary Jane, I really dig you...I want to get together but there is all this danger in my life...I've also never had a girlfriend in my whole life and I don't know how to behave with women."
He says he wants to keep her safe, but then clings to her every chace he gets. This tells me that the real issue is not the fear of danger to her, but the fear of danger to him...as in his fear of getting close to her because lets face it...he really has never had a girlfriend.
Every time I see my nephew watching that movie I have to point that out. I don't want him thinking it is ok to act like that. The guy is a total selfish whimp. He might be able to kick some butt, but he's an emotional pussy. In the end he is forced into facing his fear of commitment when the real man of the relationship forces the issue. Then everyone is happy. Reminds me of Gigli or whatever that movie was called when the lesbian decides to turn a man into her bitch. I don't have a problem with the end result, but you just don't play with people's emotions like that if you love them.
Spider man in the cartoon wasn't that much of a boob...was he in the comic books?
