I got a feeling you are going to be seeing more of this type of stuff rather than less, as the bigwigs at the music companies start worrying about their big paychecks.

This is crazy man.

They’re just wasting their money with this crap. Don’t the executives of Sony know that it's much more profitable to lobby congress and contribute to political campaigns to get the copyright laws changed in their favor? Oh yea, they did that already.

Thanks for the link to the story dude.

The new Foo Fighters double CD (ironicly titled In Your Honor) and it has this shit on there. I can't play the thing in my computer or rip it into iTunes - if I try it just comes out garbled. So, if I want to play it in my iPod or my computer, I'm screwed even though I spent my hard earned cash.

That's what burns me up about this - I PAID for the music and yet I can't listen to it unless I go to the iTunes store and download it there. If I do that, I have to pay for the same music twice which is complete horseshit. I don't go downloading a bunch of songs illegally and yet I am penalized because Sony feels the need to flex its' collective muscle.

I travel a lot for my job so I listen to a lot of my music on my computer or using my iPod but I can't listen to In Your Honor unless I drag the CD along with me which I really don't want to do. This sucks and I am actually very close to sending back the CD to Sony directly demanding a refund. I know this type of action would be met with a collective yawn from studio chiefs but what's a simple guy to do?

Done ranting now.

This sucks big time , im sure other manafactures will soon follow suit . It never existed when we had cassettes , but its awfull when you cannot use the CD in a way that fits your lifestyle . I could think of ways that might get around this but why the fuck should i . This is an extreme policy that will only encourage and not discourage piracy .

I dont think its much to worry about right now. I mean if anything, Microsoft would then sue Sony because they are forcing the buyer to use a certain player which would force most people to stop using Windows Media Player.

I personelly like to hold my purchases. I dont buy music online...I have to have that CD, but I like to make copy's too...So @#$%$# what! Digital media is so screwed up. You would think these smarty pants buisnessmen could figure shit out but seems they are just slowing things down.

I love Sony products, but I think they are only gonna get themselves in trouble with this and end up spending more money....Which they will claim all there money was stolen from piracy.

Yeah, I know what you mean but most albums give you a menu to burn that do that. I'm guessing this one doesn't?

The simple man writes that letter to get the ball rolling. Then after many people follow, the collective yawn turns into "Oh shit, somebody keep our legal department on standby".

Give 'em hell, schmoopie!
