Stephen King - The Dark Tower...
Hi there,
I've mentioned this series of books once before. Well, the 5th in the series came out at Christmas, and the 6th book came out earlier this year...
I walked into Sainsbury's yesterday, and found the 7th and final installment. I hadn't been following their progress very closely, so was gobsmacked to see it !!!
Anyway, I'm starting reading this series from book one : The Gunslinger, so as to catch up with it all. Frustrating though, knowing I have the ending in my house, but I'm gonna do it properly and read my way back up to it !!!
I cannot wait !!!! So exciting cuz when Stephen King himself set out on these stories, he didn't know how many books it would take to finish them, nor whether he would actually finish them in his lifetime. So it's exciting knowing that he has finished the story, and I have it.
Check out The official site dedicated to it to see if it appeals to you !!!

Re: Stephen King - The Dark Tower...
The first book is only a couple of hundred pages. If it doesn't grip you, then you haven't wasted much time or effort. But if it doesn't grip you, then don't try any of the others.
I simply loved 'em and could never get enough of 'em !!!!

Great series! I was expecting the second to last of the books, then saw last month that it was actually the last book.
Roland the Gunslinger kicks ass

Re: Stephen King - The Dark Tower...
I always wanted to write a song about him, but really wouldn't be doing it justice myself, certainly not on the lyric front anyway, trying to live up to a book written by Stephen King !!!

Man, I must be the only guy in the world who just couldn't get into this series. Loved "Needful Things" though!

Re: Stephen King - The Dark Tower...
Hmm, you know I've read just about all of King's material, and I remember that one being pretty decent (but its been years and the movie is fresher in my mind), but for some reason Neeful Things always struck me as his masterpiece. Oh yeah, the Shining was most awesome as well.
Yeah, I love horror books. Particularly Clive Barker.

Re: Stephen King - The Dark Tower...
Yeah, I wouldn't really class The Dark Tower as Horror. More fantasy adventure quest journey of self discovery...
Errrr. you know,
But not horror....
Maybe that's why it doesn't click with you, Ulinarian ?

As far as his best horror, that was IT, as far as I am concerned !
