CineGroupe Creating Blade Animated Show

Lions Gate Films' first quarter report (read here) included news that CineGroupe is doing the Blade animated show for MTV...

Lions Gate's CineGroupe animation partner generated library revenues of $0.4 million, while no new episodes were delivered in the quarter. The Company is still on track to deliver 67 half-hours of programming for fiscal 2004 from a variety of sources, including the provocative CG-driven series "Tripping the Rift," to be delivered to the Sci-Fi Channel in December, the Britney Spears live-action series for ABC Family in the fall, additional episodes of "What's with Andy?" and "Pig City," to be delivered to Teletoon, as well as the release of the animated feature film "Pinocchio 3000." In addition, CineGroupe is in development with Marvel Entertainment on the animated series "Blade" for MTV, based on the blockbuster film franchise.

Batman Wired Scrapped... Bring on The Batman!

Superhero Hype! first reported in June that Warner Bros. was creating a brand new Batman animated series, which was to feature a young batman and his early years as a superhero. The series was to be titled Batman Wired and feature the caped crusader in a high-tech suit of armor.

Solid word has now reached us that the head of the Cartoon Network cancelled the idea. Instead they are now working on creating a show called The Batman, which will have a slighly older Batman but still take place in his earlier years as the hero.
