Good post...I like public opinion and more so from guitarists. My number would be an 8. As bands evolve, the sound changes...I have heard the full tune and it's got a very modern twist to it (mix-wise, tone-wise). I do like it alot. I think for comparison's sake of a Van Halen tune, Mean Street would be a 10...imho...

8 here also, I like the tune over all and before hearing it I thought the production wasn't going to be so great because they had so little time to record it. However, the production value is pretty good but I think the song is loose in a couple of areas, like it's not sure where to go.

6 The lyrics just don't do anything for me and the song
is lacking direction at times. It seems forced. Maybe in time things will get better. But com'on were talking about
VAN F_____ Halen this should have been there huge comeback
and it isn't.

Adapting doesn't lower your expectations. Good is always good. Not everyone is going to like this version of Van Halen. I was jusy hoping after 6 years for something that would move me.

well here I go.I've heard the song at least 20 times today.I've had my bedroom plastered with evh pic and every album,cassette,cd,ever since 78 when I was 12 years old.(not every bootleg)On a scale of 1 to 10 I was a 9 for a vh fan.every show within a 2 hour drive.About the song Its odd the fisrt vocals are just like dlr in the song skyscraper.turn, then it repeats with the octave lower each time.sraight outta the shoot!I dont think this song was planned out and written while they all were there.but,the background vocals are top notch.mikes jammin it out on the bass.sammy sounds better than ever!wierd mix but everthing is perfectly present.I call it fluff.filler. and whats this turn your clock back crap?I guess I wanted and expected a lot more.I remember a time when hearing a solo from evh made the hair on my arm stand up! ITS ABOUT TIME TO BUST OUT SOME KICKASS GUITAR SHIT!!!!!!.you damn well know that in 5150 thay have over the years busted out some tottaly supersonic jammin shit that would floor us all.eddie always had the killer riff,but I dont hear it in this tune.Its just not the song that you would remember or hum in your head to.To sum it up I would give it a 5 only because I once heard how many say I which was horrible.

I'm gonna say 9. And some of you might think I'm crazy...well, I am!!!Ha!Ha!

Although the lyrics may seem a little simple, Eddie's tone is awesome in my opinion....I don't want to drag on a long story, but I'm also damned pleased that this tune does NOT have the word "love" in it, nor does it have any keyboards....so, I guess to sum it up, I'm just happy to have another rocker in the VH catalog, instead of another sappy assed love song..
