1st bucket head show in seattle 2/17.

Well I went to my very first buckethead show on 2/17 and the worst part of the show was that he showed up 4 hours late. My wife and I got to the venue promptly at 7pm when the doors were supposed to open. But all of us standing in line were freezing are asses off cause they even stalled opening the doors until about 7:30. So we get inside and there is nothing on stage, no drums, no amps, no motor cars not a single luxury! And nobody really thought anything of it cause there was supposed to be an opening act. So about an hour and ahalf goes by and out comes this chick dressed in a skunk outfit and her acoustic guitar (local seattle talent) and lets just say she sucked and was heckled by a very impatient crowd. So she made us suffer for a good hour and then when she left there was another stall before the actual opening guy. His name was Marcus Eaton and actually he was very good he played acoustic and sang but used a whah pedal, digital delay and an loop effects pedal to play some backing rhythms. And I felt sorry for the position the guy was put in cause he was getting heckled too and he really would have gotten a better reception if buckethead was on time. So around 11:30pm Buckethead and his gear finally arrive and small roadie crew bring in the gear thru the side entrance and setup and have a very quick sound check. I mean my fucking feet and back were killing me from standing for 5 hours. Surprisingly the placed was still packed and outcomes Buckethead with a quicker step then usual and man once he the band kicked in it was awesome! He played some awesome stuff like - Unrestrained growth, Want some slaw, welcome to buckethead land and even thru in a hendrix tune, etc,etc.. I'm sure there had to be some people that left before he came on. But they missed one hell of a show. He supposedly was late due to a car accident way way south of seattle, it just surprises me that he wasn't in Seattle a day before I would like to know the real story but who knows. But even after all the waiting I would definatly go again, I guess I'm either retarded or a very patient person. The pictures are from the show and I even have some video from the show that turned out fairly decent for a small digital camera.

Oh yea... Buckethead. He played with Axl Rose on the Chinese Democracy fiasco of two or three shows.

Nice pics. I see he also covers the back of his head. I would love to know who the fuck this guy really is.

One name he is reffered to is Brian Carroll and he actually took lessons from Paul Gilbert in the mid to late 80s. There is only like one picture of brian from about 1990 before his Buckethead incarnation. But other than that he keeps his identity under wraps. Its all fun!

That picture isn't from a newspaper its from Guitar Player or Guitar one magazine from around 1988-90. Oh sure that may not be his real name but I believe that is a real picture of him. He also used to right a short lived shredder column for Guitarworld or Guitarone I get the two confused.

I'm just kinda getting into the bucket, but I do believe that he is this Brian Carroll dude. The guy was a student of PG, and even in one of Buckethead's video demonstrations, he mentions learning some sort of technique from him...
I also heard that he had tried out for Ozzy recently and when Ozzy said "Buckethead? What the f%#@'s that all about?" he stated that his name was Brian....

I dunno, but I will say if he isn't this Brian Carroll guy, then who is he?

OK and to let ya know.. i didn't even mean to find him.. I'm a huge huge buckethead fan and would rather have not known who he really was.. but then i stumbled onto this record my father had and love the guitarist and this is before he did all that crazy ass stuff.. and then i was interested to see what this dudes career looked like and tryed to find info online.. to my surprise i found one site dedicated to him and read and read and the more i read the more i found out these little things about him and it all fell into place. theirs no denying it. it is him.. i had him sign the record. i handed it to him and he looked @ me and then looked down then he rubbed his hand on the cover for a minute... just gazeing at it.. then pinchface walked over and looked down and went to grab it and give it back. with no signature, but then bucket kinda pulled away, opened it up, and drew on the only picture of the person i thought he was.. he drew a bucket on his head.. and he wrote "it goes to the grave where Frozen brains tell no tails, Buckethead".

ive met him 3 more times since then and hes been very nice to me

That one picture of Brian Carroll is like 15 years old the guy is like my age 36-37 so yeah I'm sure he has changed alot. Paul Gilbert even used the same name Brian Carroll when refering to Buckethead. He could have used various stage names back in the early days prior to the buckethead idea. I don't know but if you look at the hands in the picture of the Brian Carroll photo they look very similar.

haha . nooooooo. no way. he was and obviously is in the creeps.. but @ this point as far as i know he was still takeing guitar lessons from mr.giblert or someone else when he played on this record.. he wasnt even half as good as he is now.. but he could still rip. and actually colma has a riff off of this parictualr record. its nothing that will stand out but its deffinitly the same riff. it sounds the exact same...

and the only thing that makes the hands look the same is the exteneded nub on the fingers.. thats it, other then that the pics is to low quality to indentify anything else.. and to say u can is pretty much a lie.. and dont say "oh they are long and skinny" no shiet so arent a million other hands.. trust me its not him.. believe what u want but its not him.. and of course paul gilbert would say that.. hes not going just come out and call him by his real name.. this is alot more organized than u think.. he really doenst want people to know who he is.. trust me hes tryed this hard to hide his identity hes not going to put his name out for the public to see. and definnitly is going to try his hardest that people not find out... and if u think he would make it that easy then the jokes on you

VHFan, slow down. Axl is still working on that mystery called Chinese Democracy. It has only been what... 15 years in the making? These things take time... Even Boston and Eric Johnson have better track records at releasing albums in the decade they were made.

"I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me but only if he got rid of the fucking bucket. So I came back a bit later and he's wearing this green fucking Martian's-hat thing. I said, 'Look, just be yourself!' He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother.' So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum then!' I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing fucking mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up?' Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a motherfucker!" - Ozzy Osbourne

when i went to see jonas hellborg open for buckethead at the wetlands , i was talking to a white long haired fellow that was unloading guitar gear. page mcconnell of phish pulled up on a bike and asked me if apt.q258 was here yet. i said yes he just walked in. and then he said 'hey brian' right to mr. buckethead. Up until buckethead took the stage for soundcheck, i thought buckethead was a black fellow. and then realised sir brian aka buckethead was a honky. i already knew apt.q258 from touring with aquarium rescue unit and shockra. this is when i also met phish[playing live with shockra in burlington-yes those are my tapes 2-1-92]this night i met shawn lane, jonas hellborg and of course brian'.
