Vinnie Vincent, just has a lot of raw talent, unfortunitly he really likes to play fast and that seems to overshadow his real ability as a lead guitar player. He is also a pretty good song writter.

i said Paul Stanley, not for his skill really but more for the songwriting. Plus we've never heard him take a real solo since he only plays rythm guitar.

Paul did a brief bit of solo "noodling" in one of KISS' concert videos-in my view, he doesn't have a lead player's "feel" (doesn't really need to-he's a distinctive vocalist)

For me, Bruce Kulick is the best guitarist KISS ever had. The tone he gets on an Ovation in the MTV "Unplugged" set proves it

bruce kulick. i think 'revenge' is their best record and, despite all the money they made on the reunion stuff they did w/ ace and peter, paul and gene gave away a shot at some killer albums w/ bruce and eric singer.

Agreed. I love the Revenge album. Traditionalists will pick Ace everytime (and he's great too), but Bruce is da man, IMO

I'm going to have to put in my vote for Bruce as well. Nothing against Ace, but it is well known that when he started going downhill some of his solos were recorded by none other than Bruce's brother Bob.

Bruce had some flash but also played harmony parts well. Vinnie did well in Kiss considering his songwriting brought Kiss back to the limelight. Of course he got booted before the big comeback of Animalize. Of course as luck would have it he would form another band, key members of leave going on to bigger success (as Slaughter)

Tommy is good, but he is a actor playing the part of Ace for all practical reasons. I liked Mark St. Johns solo in Thrills in the Night, but he didn't get to do alot with them.

Gotta say ACE.An amazing guitarist who just seemed to fit perfectly with the rest of the band.Never blossomed into the guitarist he should have become but still the best(in my opinion)

Speaking of which, why wasn't Bob Kulick one of the choices? I've heard he played most of Ace's parts on Alive II (studio side), Dynasty and Unmasked (except for tracks written by Ace).

Good question - I guess because he was never offically on record as a guitarist for the group. Actually I didn't think of it when I posted the poll.

I dont think Bob really wanted to do it, plus as far as looks go he wasn't really a fit. Also he always said Bruce should be in the band anyway.

I'm gonna go with Bruce here too, I love Aces playing, hell it really inspired me but as I'm more into post makeup kiss stuff (and you cant compare non makeup to makeup stuff) I have to say Bruce.

I wish they would tour without the makeup, lose the Ace replica and take Bruce and Eric back on the road again.

BTW Eric only did one album, well two if you count Carnival of Souls....WELL THREE if you count psycho circus lol

Eric Carr was great but I didnt like his drum sound which put me off a lot of his recordings.

I always thought that Eric was a better drummer then Singer his solos are amazing. I bet that if Eric didn't die he would still be in the band today.

The best KISS guitarist was St.John by far.. Maybe not the best for KISS,but the best from KISS..

Ace Frehley Is The Best Over All .
He Has Flash,. Style, He Has A Whole Different Vib To His Playing.. Limited As It Is .he Makes The Best Of What He Does Without Trying To Impress The Musicians Out There . He Always Plays For The Song Not Against It By Showing Off. I Think When U Listen To A Song Kiss Or Solo By Ace U Know Its Him And When It Comes Time For The Solo It Just Flows Its Something U Can Later Hum Back To Yourself At Anytime With Easy . With That It Reminds Me Of Hendrix, Page, Beck, clapton Great Guitarist That Play Memorible Songs And Solos U Always Remember With Easy .
The Other Side Of The Coin Was Bruce Kulick And Vinnie Vincent ..
Vinnie Vincent Only Had A Short Time To Play With Kiss So Its Hard To Put A Finger On It . The Studio Songs The Guitar Is Great . Live Was Another Thing Way To Over Played For Me . Bruce Kulick Was Kinda A Combonation Of Both Guys . His Playing Fit But He Could Also Let Fly. But For Me Its ....space Ace Frehely All The Way

I Like Paul Stanley Playing Also ...
For Those Who Dont Know...
Paul Has Played Many Leads With Kiss.
Twin Leads With Ace On /in
Black Diamond ,detriot Rock City, I Want You , I Stole Your Love
Some Lead Parts In C'mon And Love Me .
Paul Also Plays Lead On I Was Made For Lovin You, Sure Know Something From Dynasty.
On Unmasked He Played Lead On Half That Record With Ace On The Other Half.its Not Really A Lead Pur Say But He Play The Break In I Love It Loud .
And Ace And Paul Played 50/50 Leads On The Psycho Circus Album . As Well As Playing Lead On His Solo Records .
But He Does Want To Be Known As A Lead Player , His Main Job Is The Rythm Guitarist And He Great At That Roll.
