...ever wonder why they're still popular?
I mean out of all the 80s era bands... why are they still kickin' it...so to speak? I realize that both Jon and Ritchie have "crossed over" into the Hollywood arena- Jon by doing some acting himself, and Ritchie, by marrying an actress -
Tommy Lee Bass's ex Heather Locklear.
But is that all that's keeping them from suffering the same hell of "hasbeen-dom" which other hair-sprayed 80s co-horts Warrant, Ratt, Poison,
Def Leppard, et al. have faced?
I'll admit I don't watch eMpTyV, but what was the last BIG HIT that New Jersey Jonny and the Boyz actually had on the charts, and one that was out
recently?
Speaking of my fellow South Hills High School alumni Tommy Lee, his career has certainly thrived since marrying two actresses along the way, as well as being "involved" with present MTV divas. When was the last time you heard of his Crue bandmates in the news, other than fleeting bits about their apparent legal battles?
As well, it's likely Aerosmith is more popular now than they ever were when I was growing up in the 80s. Steven's pretty offspring Liv sure gave her poppa's music career newfound "immortality".
Yes, it seems Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Tommy Lee beat the 80s hair band jinx by attaching themselves to Hollywood... either deliberately or consequentially, and now they're enjoying possibly more success and fame than they ever did as mere
musicians.
It kinda makes you want to tell little Junior to take some acting classes along with his guitar lessons.
And don't even get me started with Ozzy.
