Re: Brown sound
The amp sounds pretty good, but try moving your mic around, maybe closer to the speaker with the amp turned up, so you don't record as much of the air or noise between the speaker and the mic.

Re: Brown sound
sorry man.... but you need to crank the amp or something... i can hear your strings while you're playing (like playing without an amp).
there is a lot of noise in the recording also. hope you can find a better mic or something.
on the bright side.... you playing sounds good

Re: Brown sound
Here's a VHclip outta love again. This was recorded with my 100w plexi head -67 or -68, my strat with S Duncan JB, and my 4x14 cab loaded with 25 w greenbacks.

You should have posted this over in tributes and covers so more can hear it. First off great choice for your first post. Of course the thing was fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for that second solo and wow you just about did. Great tone, cool slides down the strings with the pick, and best of all you really gave that main riff the perfect attention that it deserves. Second album tone for sure!!! Nice nice nice

Re: Brown sound
Hey, Rale500 I've been on this site for a while and don't recall someone having the tone much less really having that EVH touch like you have. There are a few: J-mart and.........sorry fella's I just don't remember at this point, but what you have done with this should be of interest to those of us who really get a kick out of trying to get inside Edwards fingers (and amps)!

Strat. I'm kind of new here so... I've been on the PBB for a while, thought I'd try it out here. But I'm having some difficulties finding my way around on this site, but I'm learning. This is my great interest to. I've been on it for years. And I think I've nailed it down now. I'd be great to talk about it. I't's great to find people with the same interest.

Re: Brown sound
There is a great core groop on this site (real gentlemen and women) who have a great deal of knowledge and can play, sing and knock you out of your chair with their humor like you would not believe. Given this initial post it is more clear that your experience and accomplishment would greatly add to the vitality of this sight. It is a community with strong artistic egos so there can be a little game playing, but what rules this site mainly is give and take, civility and guitar! Yeah, lets talk!!
Speaking of the subject we love so well, have you checked out this site: http://www9.ocn.ne.jp/~evinda/english.html

Re: Brown sound
Yeah. A lot. There's a lot of interesting things there. But there's allso a lot of contradictions about the amp. Take for instance that dutchman and those other people... Ed had a lot of amps, and I can bet my right arm that what the dutchman must have seen, is NOT the amp Ed had during the first recordings. It's probably one of the amps he had on the road, but not the ONE. Have you seen the picture where you can see the backside of the amp? And allso, it is a stock. No dought about it.
Well. I'm signing of now. working day tomorrow.
Talk to you later.

Re: Brown sound
I saw a pic of it back in the day and it has a pot in the back, near the beginning of the preamp section. Some say it was a bias control, but I disagree. If it were a bias control, why was it located so far from the bias supply components?

Re: Brown sound
And even if it were a bias pot, It wouldn't make that much of a difference, since you can only do so much with the bias. If you overbias the tubes it sounds crappy, and if you underbias the tubes it allso sounds crappy. If it is a biaspot, it would only be for the convenience of not taking the amp apart to set the bias whenever you change tubes.
