Hey All
A little help please. I live in Belize Central America. I play a lot
of gigs on the beach here. Hey,somebody has to do it! Heres
the deal. I have played in bars in cover bands for over 30
years in the States. We always stuck to a formula.."If they
cant dance to it why are we playing it". That kept us very
much in demand because nothing makes a club owner
happier than a packed dance floor. I have played Brown Eyed
girl,
Mustang Sally, Twist N Shout, Should I Stay or Should I Go,
ect thousands of times (and even though one does tend to get
weary of those songs I can only hope I get to play them another
thousand times) My delema is this. We get no radio here. And as
for internet....well we dont get streaming audio...dripping perhaps
but not streaming. I have lost touch with new music. It seems
every generation has its "We have to dance to that" songs. The
old ones listed above are guarenteed to pack the floor here and
even the 20 year olds jump up and dance to them. My question
is what are the newer (last 10 years till the present) songs that
people absolutely have to dance to. The song that guys that dont
even dance will get up for. I must admit I will be more than
challenged to play
Hip Hop so I would like to keep it in the Rock
and R&B vane. Got the Reggae covered. I know you folks know
what I am talking about. Help!!Please list some of the tried and
true college and bar anthems that never fail. All input would be
appreciated. I will even consider one or two Rap songs. It's just
that at this age, I am afraid to grab my crotch on stage.....if
you get my drift. Thanks for the help.
