exactly what i was gonna say . freddy and Queen get my vote too . .and might i say brian may is one hell of a good guitar player .. he doesnt really shredd but he knows his stuff and he does the most awesome melodies and killer riffs
[/ QUOTE ]
Brian May is responsible for some of the most sonically perfect recordings I have ever heard. If you haven't heard Back To The Light yet, and you play guitar, you're missing out on something great.

Never mind that stuff Toast, check out 'The March of The Black Queen', 'The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke' off Queen II, ' Brighton Rock' off Sheer Heart Attack and 'Prophet Song' from 'Night At The Opera'...way ahead of their time.
BUT my fave band from the 70's was most likely Rush as I saw 'em on the '2112', 'Farewell To Kings' and 'Hemispheres' tours at the end of the '70's and they were awesome

I had to go with Plant as I am a big Zep fan but honorable mention to Steven Tyler, Ozzy, and Dio!
