Guns 'N' Roses - Greatest Hits

Hi guys,

I was never going to get this album myself, because I looked at the track listing and realised that I had all of the songs anyway. However, a mate at work lent it to me to listen to, so I popped in.

Wow, I may have all of these songs, but I can't remember when I last listenend to them all !! [img]images/smilies/icon_eek.gif[/img]

They're all great, and they sound so fresh. Are they remixed, I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were, and Axl got the ump about it, can anyone jog my memory ?

Anyone else heard the songs ?

A federal judge has rejected a bid by Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose and two of the metal band's former members to block Geffen Records from releasing a greatest hits compilation next week.

Rose sued the record label, a unit of Universal Music Group, last week, saying he never gave his permission to release the record or have its hits remixed for the new album. Former band members Slash and Duff McKagan , who haven't been in the band since the early 1990s, joined the lawsuit.

But on Monday, U.S. District Judge Dale Fischer denied Rose's request for an order blocking the release, scheduled for next Tuesday. The next hearing in the case is set for two days later.

"Their lawsuit is meritless," Universal Music Group spokesman Peter LoFrumento said Tuesday. "Fortunately, since the court has denied their application for a temporary restraining order, the album will be released as scheduled."

Rose's management declined to comment.

Led by the mercurial Rose, Guns N' Roses soared to superstar status in the late 1980s following the release of "Appetite for Destruction," with hits such as "Paradise City," "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle."

The group continued to rack up hits in the early 1990s, but by the midpoint of the decade Rose was left as the only original member. He attempted a comeback in 2002 with a new lineup, but it fizzled after he was a no-show at several planned concerts.

Geffen decided to go ahead with the greatest hits album because Rose did not deliver on promises to complete a new record, tentatively titled, "Chinese Democracy," a source familiar with the deal said on condition of anonymity.

Geffen has paid $13.5 million into the "Chinese Democracy" project, which has been more than seven years in the making, the source said.

Anyway, it's a great album, the remixes sound cool and fresh...

Not their best songs, IMHO, but, yeah, they are their most popular collection of songs.

It is good stuff, and Axl was just being a bitch about it. He needs to stop bitching, and crack a whip on Chinese Democracy. Fuck me, at this rate, China will have a democracy running smoothly before the album comes out. [img]images/smilies/wutblau.gif[/img]

Axl is nothing less than a little crying bitch and its a shame he fucked his band mates the way he did. Fuck him, I hope that Slash and the boys get their own thing going again some day with someone else.

Gotta agree with wip...the dude blew his load on UYI. Dumbass couldn't even keep to concert obligations. The frontman of THE BIGGEST hard rock band of the late 80's and he prolly doesn;t even have a pot to piss in.

Yeah, it's a shame how it all turned out. I can't help but think that Guns 'N' Roses ain't Guns 'N' Roses without all of the members there.

But, if anything, I'd anticipate the Slash and co venture more than the Axl Rose show, as I think that'd be closer to the original, especially if Duff sang again...

However, without Axl having a hand in the lyrics...

Duff's singing is sooooo bad, that it is cool in its own way... If you like it, you should check out his solo CD "Believe in me". A great album all the way around... As for the GNR Greatest Hits, on the other hand. I think it is a joke. Those sond are not their greatest hits, but just a handfull of popular GNR tunes that got tossed together...

Which is what , Greatest Hits means at the end of the day...

Their best songs weren't necessarily released or if they were, they weren't hits.

I quite agree with you though, they have much better songs in their collection...
