Metallica St. Anger DVD

I didn;t care much for this album becuase of the lack of guitar leads, but I was watching the DVD recently and thought it was pretty cool to see the vibe going on and the energy they seemed to capture. Of course, I couldn't help when Lars went off in a pissy fit after a song if he went out to a parking lot full of exotic sports cars and had a cappucino or frapp 'e from the caterer... I think Lars rubs everybody the wrong way these days. I personally loved the dvd. If they had only captured that vibe on the cd then it would have been much better. I dont see how you could purposely want your cd too sound like shit, and if that's the case why hire a big time guy like Bob Rock and pay him all that money for an album that sounds like shit. Doesnt make sense. A few tunes that sound great on that dvd are Frantic, St. Anger and My World which flat out fuckin rocks.

I thought the tunes on the DVD were better than the actual studio-versions.

Come to think of it you're right. The live stuff in the studio probably sounds better than the CD recording... But I think it's wayyyy too long though.

I don't think I have listened to ANY Metallica in over a year, aside from St Anger when it cames out and I hijacked a copy rom a friend. I burned a copy of the CD and it's still sitting here at the office, under a pile of other CDs.

It really is a shame. Metallica was so awesome in its day. I'm sure I would enjoy a concert. They have such a great back catalogue of songs by now...

One of the reasone why I like the DVD and hate the CD is that stupid steel pan snare Lars uses on the CD....grates on my nerves. I could only listen to that CD twice....another frizbee. I guess I could use it next time I go skeet shooting.

Re: Metallica St. Anger DVD

i thought the st. anger music was okay, some pretty heavy tunes... but the production sucks! and guys, where's kirk? he's the reason why i started obsessing on the guitar, and the fact that there's no guitar solo takes away the true essence of metallica! really sad... ah well, anyone have heard the new anthrax album WCFYA? now thats a wicked album... right next to TOT by dream theater...
