I'm bored to death here at work so I'm digging up old article and shit, and ran across this one that Andrew did a few years back. I would have liked to have seen what VH could have been with Mitch as their frontman, but I guess we'll never know:

I actually heard about this around the time it was supposedly happening. There were all sorts of rumors about Jeff Scott Soto, Jani Lane, Bret Michaels, but I had a friend who said it was Mitch and I thought for sure he was gonna be announced, but it didn't happen. I think he would've been accepted better than Cherone (who I loved), but I still think it probably wouldn't have gone beyond one album. Ultimately, Dave or Sammy had to come back for them to be successful in my opinion.

I never heard of it..

Mitch is one of my buddies and he has a tape of him singing 12 songs at 5150 - but he wont even let me hear it! He's coming over to tour in Sept so I'll ask him to bring it, but I think i know the answer already!

Ed and the band shook his hands and said the deal was done. 4 weeks passed without ANY word via management and then Cherone was announced. The guy was GUTTED!

All you guys in the UK gotta go see Mitch play - what a voice!

Yea it does. From what I heard though, Gary was a Ray Daniels decision, not an EVH choice. I even remember reading that when they brought up Extreme to Alex before the audition, Alex's words were, "they fucking suck!" So I dont think Gary was the band's first choice, and I would have loved it if Mitch made the band. Nothing against Gary of course, but I just felt that Ed was more stoked about Mitch then he was about Gary. I remember Ed bringing him up on the Mattrock special on MTV. He never said Mitch's name but he said..."We tried another and..it..it could have worked ya know. But I want somebody..ya see...Mike, Alex and I..are life is making music man." And he went on to say how Gary fit that mold and stuff, and how he didn't want another long, blonde haired, hood ornament. [img]images/smilies/icon_lol.gif[/img]
