New Poll: What are the 3 WORST Van Halen albums???

Let's take this from the other end of the spectrum and discuss which Van Halen CDs you would most likely use as a drink coaster. I am anticipating that his topic should generate quite a bit of heat in here, so I'm gonna go ahead and open up a few windows...

I'll start it off (with "1" being the worst and "3" being the least worst ) [img]images/smilies/icon_wink.gif[/img] :

1. Balance
2. OU812
3. Women and Children First

Try your best to come up with three if you can.
Of course, this list doesn't mean that you do not like any of these albums or any of the songs on them. I am just trying to see which ones are least liked (and not necessarily DIS-liked).

Ya know, I thought about you when I put OU812 as my number 2 choice. As in, "Gee, I hope I do not offend VHFanOU812 with my list!" But now I see that OU812 is one of your bottom three VH albums!!! What gives, my friend? Just curious. I mean, there are some good songs on that album for sure. Mine All Mine is one of my favorite VH songs and ranks up there with "Right Now" as far as lyrics written by Sammy (which is usually the element about him as leader that I like the least) that are actually somewhat intellectual and spiritual (as opposed to the post-pubescent food/sex analogies and alcohol/partying lyrics that he normally writes about).

How come you dislike this tune ("Dancing in the Street")? It is one of my favorite VH songs and the lead earns a spot on my "Top Ten List of Favorite Eddie Solos." Just curious to know how you and I could hold such opposite opinions. I am not challenging the legitemacy of your opinion. Just curious is all.

It just sounds like a Dave solo tune to me, and it doesn't belong on a VH cd. To this day, that is the only Van Halen song I will change when it comes on the radio. To quote Eddie, "I'd rather bomb with my own shit then succeed with someone else's. "

I am totally anticipating VH III being on 90% of everyone's list. As a result, I am going to launch another thread dedicated to debating why this is true.....So, why DO so many people hate VH III ????

i hear ya, jacob. This was not an easy task. It's kind of like living in some third world country where you don't have enough means to feed all your 10 children and you have to sell three of them into slavery in order to feed you, your wife and the 7 other kids, and you have to decide which ones to get rid of, even though you pretty much love them all about the same..... KC-Do not read anything into my screen name. I was on another VH board lurking for a long time when some guy posted his band's new song. I had to register right away and tell him how much I liked the song. I tried "VHFAN", "VHFAN5150", "VHFAN316", "VHFANTX".....about everything and then hit with the one I have.

I tried to get Eric to change it to "VHFAN" but he things he might blow something up if he hits the command.

I like the CD....it's just not one of the best IMO. they just seem happy and comfortable on it...and I like dark and pissed off (Fair warning/WACF) or the drugs are starting to kick in hard, pour me a shot and hit the record button before I pass out. (1984, VH1)
