Paul Gilbert

Saw the man a few weeks ago and a very happy person I was.
Went to Dudley and Leeds and the man is amazing. Not only guitar but I love his songs and vocals. Got to meet the man after too many years of loving his music. Very nice too, asked where I got my Amazing Journey shirt from and I proudly said I went to NY to see him. (well that and Gary Cherone)
I just wished there had been more dates, maybe Scotland won't be missed next time.

Paul is definatley an amazing player, I don't think there's anyting he can't play, I mean he plays classical, metal, shred, blues , rock, yes even pop thankfully I 've never heard him play country, but I'm sure he'd do just fine, nice to see someone who appreciates good guitar playing, just wish there was more on this site, after all it is named "Guitar101"

peace

Paul is the MAN!!! He's the one who inspired me to play guitar in the first place.

haha, there is a popular rumor going around saying that gilbert and buckethead may be the same people. just buckethead is always hidden behind his mask

sure, gilbert taught buckethead, but they both have distict styles of music. buckethead is kinda hard to describe in just plain genres....and their fingers are a lil different

and also, gilbert usually has his ibanez with painted f holes, where as buckethead has several guitars

Buckethead got lessons from a guy in Claremont (Possibly Pomona) at a music store. I was told by his old teacher that he only got one lesson from Paul Gilbert.

must have been one hell of a lesson then, buckethead talks (through that ugly ass disembodied head of course) about paul and his influence backstage at his shows quite a bit...

and paul's style comes through so much i have a very hard time believing that he only received one lesson from him....

Paul is pure class, I once sent him an email asking him some playing questions;imagine how blown away I was when there was a response in my inbox the next day. Couldnt believe he took the time to answer me plus it wasnt a one word response, he took the time to explain it very thouroughly. I couldnt imagine a lot of other players in his class doing that.....
