Robin Trower

I just picked up the Another Days Blues which is semi-current Robin Trower and I can't get over the sound he gets from his Strat, it is so fat. He plays with so much feeling and every note just bursts out with emotion.

There are lots of blues players out there, but this one really comes across. RT was once called a Jimi Hendrix clone but honestly, I don't hear that much Hendrix in his sound, except for the thick, distorted Strat and if you ask me, SRV and Kenny Wayne Shepard sound more like Hendrix than RT ever did.

Great stuff.

Cool

I never heard that they called Robin Trower a "Hendrix clone." I don't know very much biographical stuff about him. I think his guitar work w/ Procol Harum is pure genius. From what I've heard of his solo material, it sounds like he's got good solo material as well.

RT has been compared to Hendrix often throught his career, especially for his use of the Strat, Marshall, and Univibe effect setup he uses. So has Frank Marino. As far as I know, RT hasn't done a Hendrix cover. FM has done a bunch. I love FM style, too, but while he plays lots of Hendrix covers, he doesn't play like Hendrix either.

Bridge Of Sighs should be in every guitarist collection.

Doesn't sound like hendrix? Have you heard any of his classic albums? Like, Bridge of Sighs, For Earth Below, Long Misty Days, and his 76 Live. Awesome.

I love Robin Trower, but I can certainly hear where his influences came from back in the day- that said, another day's blues is absolutely killer stuff isn't it0 and tha tparticular album doesn't channel too much hendrix. Trower is awesome. Glad you found it!
