Re: Sammy Hagar book excerpts, Chapters 19&20

Thanks a lot for that. I've always wanted to read some of it. It is very "thought provoking", whether it is complete truth is in question though (only Sammy and the band know for sure). Do you have any more of this book? I'm really interested to more......

Holy Schnike's...that is some compelling stuff. To be honest, it gave me a much better perspective of Sammy. For the longest time, I kinda viewed him as rock's version of Jimmy Buffet, only fabricated. I'm not saying he's not talented by any stretch cause he certainly is. Just that he has a lot more substance than what I perceived.

Of course, this is just one mans version of the story so.....

Re: Sammy Hagar book excerpts, Chapters 19&20

One interesting thing is the details of the club....which I suspect are true. Looking back...when Sam decided to open the Cabo Wabo in Nevada and the brothers approved, that should have told everyone that they were going to reunite.

Also noboby in their right mind would do it with those terms:

If it takes any loss Sammy covers in 100%
If it make any profit...the brothers get half and MA get's 25%

I see that as a real olive branch for sammy to do that...maybe in an effort to ease the pain of the original club on the brothers.

Ed and Al are all pissed off becasue they feel "Cabo Wabo" is a VH brand (which it is) and not only did sammy turn the club around where it makes $$$, but that Tequila business is BIG business and the brothers own no part of it. You know that has got to keep Ed up at night fuming about all the $$$ Sammy pockets with that stuff..

I read Sammy sold over $80M retail of that stuff last year alone. I'm sure if you ask Ed he invented Tequila and everyone is copying him. (sorry Sucka I couldn't resist one joke)

The real interesting thing is that Sammy (and MA) can't break away from a VH tour and play the birthday bash (10-13) without Ed's permission...hell I'll bet they have to sign a release all the way around. Sammy and MA are going to be there in a couple of weeks.

I know this is a real longshot, but if for some reason the brothers show up for that event.......it will show the world that they are really "friends" again and the reunion is REAL...not just for $$$.

And if they were smart businessmen, they would get on board with the Cabo Wabo concept. They have nothing more to lose and half the profits to gain with those clubs. I say put one is every city in the US.

Where do I sign up for that deal?

This is Sam's version of what happened and he was a little pissed when he "wrote" it so I take it with a little grain of salt. What it does prove though is how Ray Daniels f'd up one of the greatest bands ever. Whatever happened from 94-96 the boys have forgotten/forgiven so all is well now and hopefully EVERYONE learned from it.

Exactly. That's what I took from it ya know. I mean he had to be pissed cause he even dissed his boy Mikey in there a few times. So I'm pretty sure Sam was fired up about the hole deal.

The one thing we do know is that Ray fucked this band up in more ways then one. Not only did he force Sam out, but he also fucked up the Roth reunion, brought in Mitch and basically guranteed him the gig, then gave it to Gary and we all know how that turned out. He basically just sent the band in a serious downward spiral that took them years to recover from.

Great read!!!! One thing that strikes me is Sammy is pissed about having to sign his life away and share profits from Cabo but the way I read it is seems like he got it for a steal from the bro's and Leffler's wife by saying they could stay in by paying off the debt or sign it over to him and they will owe nothing and be resonsible for nothing. Like he would be doing them a favor by taking it off their hands. All the while by being there he knew the real estate values were going up and the place was going to be (or already was)worth a fortune.
