Re: Sammy Hagar book excerpts, Chapters 19&20
That bad blood is still there and it hasnt been resolved. Al, Ed, and Sam decided "to forget about it". Yeah right like thats gonna work!

Re: Sammy Hagar book excerpts, Chapters 19&20
Oh,,one thing though. How can Sammy say the Alex has nothing to do with the creative process of VH??? I think that when Ed is writing music, he is actually jamming with Al. Ed's writing has a very direct connection to playing with his brother IMO. I don't believe that he could just go jam with anyone and come up with the same smokin riffs. Those 2 are the engine that makes the VH express go!!!

Yea I was a little peeved reading that, but I think that was just a pissed off Sam talkin shit. After seeing these guys interact and from what he's had to say about Al during the shows I've been too, it's clear that Sam respects the shit outta that guy.

Re: Sammy Hagar book excerpts, Chapters 19&20I
I for one really enjoyed reading this. Nothing new in it. All of this is common knowledge now. Terry Kilgore an old friend of Eddie's much supports most of the character flaws of the Van Halen boys written here. It is nothing new.
Eddie and Al are tops to me as musicians. However, Roth said it best when he said, "they need to learn how to be good human beings".
It is a mistake to put any human on a pedestal. They will only disappoint you. It also show's immaturity by the person placing them up there.

Re: Sammy Hagar book excerpts, Chapters 19&20I
Nah I don't. This was the only stuff that surfaced on the net. Sammy and the author got into a heated law dispute over the rights to this book, and it never got published. That's a real bummer too because this stuff was much more detailed then Roth's book.

Well, it took me a couple days, but I finished it. What a sad, sad, story. Ray Danniels is evil. Where is he now?
Ed is just so insecure and naive, it's sad. He definitely trusted the wrong guy. It's too bad that he can be manipulated like this.
I don't even know what to say about Al. He was manipulated as well, but come on. How could they think they were being ripped off all that time? Danniels is a piece of shit.

I dunno Shari..you know what they say about how if you hear something a bunch of times you start to beleive it. I'm guessing that's what happened with Al and Ed. They let Ray put some bullcrap in their heads, and it just snowballed from there. It really is ashame because they were going thru a very good time as far as creativity went. Humans Being and Me Wise Magic were very Fair Warning like tunes, being that they were so fierce. I would have loved another album with Sam in 96 or even with Dave. Ed was writing on a very high level back then I thought.

Far as I’m concerned, Eddie’s the complete package. Technique aside, his rhythm playing, feel, songwriting, tone, riffs, leads, man, it’s all there. It’s like the best-tasting beer you ever drank in your life! ~Zakk Wylde

this band is SO talented, who knows what they would've come up with...
its frustrating nonetheless to know theyve never been the same since that asshole...

You know, reading this didn't really upset me all that much, and im a big fan of Eddie. Really it just kinda put things into prospective. I mean, sure Ed and Alex probably didn't act as good as they should have but look at what was on their plate at the time? Sounds like all 4 of them needed a break anyways. With Sammy's divorce and all of Ed's problems i can now understand how this all happened.
I guess what u gotta keep in mind is that even though these guys are rock gods, that they are still human. All of their actions i can understand, and of course they must have understood each others actions too cause look where they are now?

I agree with you guys it is a one sided version but Sammy seems pretty genuine...Gives a lot of insight into the lives of a BIG Rock and Roll Band I found it very interesting..Thanks for the read!! I aslo think Ray totally messed up the Band..I would like to know how they all agreed to get rid of him and get back together ??

You know you can never be sure about who is doing & saying what. I mean Sammy seems to be 'fan friendly' but on the other hand its him that says things like 'I wanted the tickets cheaper' etc implying he is the good guy & that Ed & Alex are uncaring etc etc. Sammy was the one that did the radio intreview clearly stating how unhappy he was & that thats it etc etc & then a few days later he is full of all is ok etc. And what abotu ed & alex?..they just keep their mouths shut, even with all this Sammy spouting off they just keep quiet & I respect them for that big time, they dont get drawn into a 'he said so I said' thing going on, they just keep quiet & get on with whatever they do. So in a nutshell maybe Sam should apply the Vegas idea of 'what happens in Vegas stays in vegas' or even teh Bon Jovi New Jersey Syndicate thing of keeping band business private because from where I am standing he is the one making all the rumours & accusations & doing all the talking & trying to make himself look like the good guy & everyone else bad

nice read.....i didn't realise how much influence a manager could have over a bands success - like ray is definitely an asshole, and if he managed to do that little with the potential of van halen in a few years.....imagine what he's done to rush, they might be be absolute rock legends by now
