Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
So, from what I have read latley it truly sounds like Sammy is going to sing a few more Dave tunes this time. I would assume Aint talking about love, Panama and Jump... but one interview Sammy mentioned that he was digging singing Jump and that "in the old days he was sensitive about singing Dave's tunes, this time he is not" (VHND) The interview also says to look for some surprises... Im thinking that because Roth was such an A**hole on the Sam and Dave tour that we are gonna get some more Roth tunes this time around... ones like we aint never heard.(ok, bad play on words) THE BOTTOM LINE... what new Roth Era tunes do you think (or want) Sammy might sing this time around? Or do you think we might get a Roth era medely type thing? (like Metallica with old stuff in their shows)

I'd fucking love it if they did stuff like Romeo Delight, Outta Love Again, Top Jimmy, etc. But could you imagine if they did Mean Street ?
Fuck me, that would rock
Or if he did Me Wise Magic.
Woooaaah, man !!!

Re: Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
When Sam and VH were split, they asked him about the songs Dave sang on, and if he'd heard the tunes before. He had said that Can't Get This Stuff No More was one of the tunes they had worked on, but Me Wise Magic was new. He said, and I'm trying to quote: "That's a fuckin killer Tune. I would have tore it up on that one!" So, I'm almost positive we're gonna hear that song live...it'll be fuckin killer alright!

Re: Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
Has this lineup ever done an acoustic portion of their show? That might be cool. Or experiment with different arrangements of their old tunes, lets say, a lilting version of "Jamie's Crying". Remember, part of vh's genius was their inovative covers, why not do it with their own tunes?

Re: Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
MTV wanted to do an unplugged with them but Ed said no, that his music was simply not meant to be played accoustically.

Re: Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
You know, I have seen both Sammy (VH and Solo) and Dave (solo only) live and I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sammy is the better performer. I often wonder if Sammy had been more open to singing Roth's songs during his first run with the band would we even care about Roth any more? Dont confuse me with a Sammy only guy because I really dig both eras. I just think people miss Roth because they miss that music. Could you imagine how people would have reacted when during a Roth reunion they didnt play a single Sammy era song? think about it before I get ripped on how Roth was Van Halen, ect... LOL

Re: Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
I hope he does, cause I've always loved Mike's voice. The one question I have is wether Alex can play HFT anymore. They really didn't do too many fast tunes on the 3 tour.

Re: Sammy Singing Roth tunes? Hummmm
His neck was screwe dup on that tour, and part of the ceiling had fallen on his arm which was why they cancelled several European shows (unless the rumour of poor album sales was true).
So maybe they've fixed him up now ?
