Van Halen compilation , please help

i was wondering if every one could help me. i am making a 3 cd van halen mix. one i am keep and im also going to make one for myself. i am making cover art also.

so can everyone help with setlist ideas and also pics to use.

I can't find it online right now, but I once made a great compilation VH cd with that old logo they used that had the lion with sunglasses on. That made a killer-cover. I'll keep looking for it.

where do you start??? All of VH 1? What do you leave off? I mean does Big Bad Bill is Sweet William Now have a space? What about Dirty Movies? Make it 15 cd's and you'll get all ya need on there!!!! [img]images/smilies/music487.gif[/img]

please keep suggestions comming! here is what i have personally , every vh release, and a few bootlegs. i want to try and keep it at 3 cds. 4 at the most. should i use the gary era of vh? its not one of my favorites. my favorite is sammy but dave is amazing also. i want to start cd 1 off with right now and then go into hot for teacher. please give suggestions . ill be back after my interview.

It's a personal thing...I'd have to start with 'Runnin' With The Devil' Myself cos that was the golden egg for me-first track and all that. I like Gary Cherone but not with VH so I wouldn't add any...uh oh, I can see a hate crime thread coming up![img]images/smilies/chucks.gif[/img]Anyway, if it's for you, do what you like...If it's an anthology for others to hear then start at the beginning, pick the hits, some cooky stuff, some stuff with totally influential guitar (I'm talkin' Eruption natch, Spanish Fly, Cathedral, Mean Streets) and then your fave stuff...Poundcake would have to be on there. As would Dreams, Why Can't This Be Love...fuck ya'd better make it 20 cd's! [img]images/smilies/icon_thumb.gif[/img]

i hear ya wahwah, this is for me and also i am making one for my brother in law. i do like gary, but not in VH, like he was cool playing some classics but not the VHIII album.

I would add sammy era and dave era. I would add alot of tracks you dont hear alot like im the one,, atomic punk,,where have all the good times gone,, so this is love,, etc. i would add black and blue from ou812. and so many others. I like gary cherone when he was with extreme ,, but as for beeing with vh,, i wasnt a fan either. as for cover art,,i would use a mix of his guitars,, with the necks of the guitars aiming at each other,, and flames going through them guitars and a best of vh logo made up lit up inbetween them .. man i have ideas hehe just an idea i wanted to pass along.

wow man you are doing great.. nice list il tell ya anohter great idea! i would put all live stuff on cd 3! like get tunes from live right here right now,, from live without a net,,, etc,... ooh and iwould add wont get fooled again and to tope the 3rd cd off! i would finish it out with the live 316 solo from live right here right now as ending of that cd! just some cool ideas.

Seriosuly, this kind of thing changes depending on what mood I am in. So it would be a different compilation day by day !

I'd say to throw a few remixes or unreleased ones on there as well. For example, I have the 12" version of Dreams that is awesome because Eddie does this wicked run in the extended solo.

Plus, I think he did some cool guitar work on some of the unreleased stuff. And he also put a great guitar solo into Beat It !

But make sure you put Me Wise Magic on there !
