If the Ramones get inducted and Van Halen doesn't....then the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame to me is a total fu*king joke and there's just no basis for taking it seriously. There are so many deserving bands that will probably never be considered. It would about be more fair if they would just draw fu*king names out of a hat? Who's next? The White Stripes???? What's this world coming to?

Rock and Roll?
Van Halen? or Van Hagar? or Van Cherone?
I dont think they have a good Rock song since 1984. I think they are waiting till Eddie changes the Bands name to "Its all about Eddie" or Eddie and the 3 whatevers. The Eddie band"
Ok sorry enough Eddie bashing, So start your flames against me.
I like early Van Halen , But with Jump i sort of thought they went Soft, Limp.
When a song starts on the Radio , you either Turn it up , or change the station. I been changing the station on VH for 21 years. When you hear a good rock song it charges you up, puts you in a good mood , gets your heart pumping. VH in my view point has not done that in a long long time

Maybe you should listen past the radio hits ? most of van halens radio hits have always sucked in my opinion regardless of the singer with the exception of maybe right now ,
i am by no means a sammy hagar fan , but there are alot of songs from that era of vh that i do enjoy .
as for the rock and roll hall of fame , to me it already is a joke , i'm not really sure why people care about these silly institutes and awards ... we all know vh is great !

Heh heh heh ! Great first post ! Talk about causing a stir !
However, if others share your view, especially those who make the final decision, then this could be exactly why they haven't got in.
It definitely seems to be the majority opinion that Van Halen were better for their first 6 albums...

Where's all the great 80's era metal bands?? Oh, yeah there's maybe 1 or 2 on the list! Please. Alot of those bands already inducted are mediocre at best.

Ever since they dicked around with Black Sabbath, you knew the place was a joke. I think they will be elected someday. I don't care so much about them being in there, but the induction would be a mess if all members show. Of course the Rock Hall would win my respect if they only induct the original 4 members, but that would require balls.

The Ramones have had a major impact on rock 'n' roll. They are the kings of true American punk rock. They totally deserve to be in the R'n'RHOF.
Van Halen did have a major impact on rock 'n' roll too. They will, one day, be inducted into the R'n'RHOF as well. It's just a matter of time. Hopefully the VH sisters will show Dave some respect for this too.
BTW........ It's not so much Edwina's fault as it is Alexandria's fault for pulling the puppet strings of the alcoholic/drug addict. Even Shammy would agree with that.

Why isn't Van Halen in the Hall of Fame? It's simple really... Two words: Sammy Hagar.
Van Halen changed the face of rock in the 80's. For better or worse they spawned thousands of Eddie clones and Dave wannabes. The voters know the original VH with DLR is an iconic band, deserving to be inducted but if VH gets in then they have to acknowledge Hagar. Nobody wants that ham-headed dufus in the Hall of Fame. I'm serious - Sammy Hagar is why they haven't been inducted.

You know, as a life long Van Halen fan, it pisses me off to see people going one side to the other with this "Van Hagar" Van Cherone" stuff....it's like a football team- if the core nucleus stays in tact and kicks ass, who cares whos calling the plays? The bottom line is; if you listen to the band because of the lead singer, whats the point of following the band? The music always rocks, so who give a s*#t if its Dave, Sammy, Gary, etc???

Oh yeah- forgot to post the actual point of my reply- VH without a doubt should be in the Rock & Roll HOF; I mean the Ramones were great, no doubt, but that's like putting the cart in front of the horse
