Velvet Revolver
What do you guys think of Velvet Revolver?? I noticed there wasn't an official Velver Revolver thread, so I figured I would start one. I really dig them. They have the new rock sound with the old rock feel. Their new album contraband is supposed to debut at #1. So what do you guys think of them??

Re: Velvet Revolver
I think they are fucking great. It's about time too cuz the music in my favorite genre, ROCK, was getting pretty dismal. I have always thought Slash was a great guitarist and Appetite for Destruction was just an incredible album. I just wish that Izzy was along for the ride. He was the perfect compliment to Slash. Too bad he gave up touring I am expecting great things from them. They combine the best of psuedo-glam 80's rock with the 90's Seattle sound. Best of both worlds.

I should qualify this...I expect great things from them as long as Scott can stay away from the heroin

Re: Velvet Revolver
I have been listening to this CD non stop (well except for the new VH!!!!) for the last couple days. IT ROCKS!! At the beginning of the year, I proclaimed 2004 the year good old rock music makes a big comeback and this release is just more proof of that.
For those that have not heard it yet, it truly is a great combination of GnR and STP. GnR-type music with STP vocals and melodies. An awesome combination if you ask me! This is just what the music world needed...a shot in the arm of great fucking rock music that doesn;t have someone rapping over it!!!

Re: Velvet Revolver
Went out and bought it today. It certainly rocks. Still getting into it. I guess I was just expecting another Appetite For Destruction with a different vocalist.
But they've all moved on. Classic rock riffs and Slash's playing is great. I will get into it, that I can be sure. Very heavy.
Just difficult to give it a proper listen whilst I am working and my mind is on other things, but form what my mind does pick up, it fucking rocks !!!

Re: Velvet Revolver
Sounds Like GnR without Axl, and the vocalist tries to be Axl but cant, switch the Vocalist and we gots an epic band.

Re: Velvet Revolver
This to me is the best cd in 2004 so far. I was very impressed, but I must say that the track order did bother me a bit. Putting five rockers in a row like that just wasn't a good choice, but I still dug it. I think that when Fall To Pieces is released, VR is going to blow up BIG TIME! Re: Velvet Revolver
I just downloaded "I used to lover" By Velvet Revolver....and its really funny listening at Scott 's voice trying to imitate Axl,i still can't believe they can be satisfied playing with him, anyway i'm pretty sure their adventure will not last for long lol ,pretty sure Guns will come back sooner or later!!

Re: Velvet Revolver
I have tons of respect for G&R's band but hate that crying little bitch, Axle. They are definitely better off without him and I would buy anything they put out.

Re: Velvet Revolver
I've only heard "Slither", but i think they sound pretty damn good. All the best bits of GnR's and a better singer than Axl.
