vivian campbell and warren demartini

these guys should have and still should be considered very innovative guitarists for the past twenty plus years.vivians work on anything DIO is mindblowing.go back and listen to him.in the early 80s you had eddie van halen and randy rhoads.then who.vivian campbell could and still can shred and still be melodic.warren demartini has very catchy riffs and killer solos.hes also a very good rythym player too.i know they reached their peaks in the eighties but they are still rockin and rollin.

Both are fantastic players, I remember watching Dio's Special from the Spectrum and was jost blown away with Viv's chops, and as menioned, very inovative in his use.
Warren is a great player and I loved his combination of tone, flash and unique lines.

Campbell and DeMartini

If you guys like Warren's work, you should definitely check out his mentors
work: Jake E. Lee...killer vibrato and harmonics that influenced many today incl. Zakk and besides speed and flash plays with intense aggression. Joe Perry has the first Ratt demo with Jake at his website, check it out guys

back in the eighties, I actually worshiped Vivian Campbell. To me he was the Guitar God. He didn't have Yngwie chops, but he had something...a real snazzy style that fit the song. Outside of Def Leppard he does blues stuff now, and plays Les Pauls. I saw him a few years ago with Def Leppard, but Phil Collen did most of the solos. Vivian got a couple, but they were short, slow bluesy things. Nothing like what he did in Dio. He's got a blues CD out now, but I can't remember what the name of it is. He sings on it too. Never really got into DeMartini's stuff though.

Good points.

This leads me to ask why John Sykes is so rarely mentionned.

He's a monster rythm player and can shred solos like nobody's business. Listen to his work on the excellent Whitesnake album from 1987 then on his two albums with supergroup Blue Murder...

Of course there's also the Thin Lizzy period for the more classic taste.

Anyway. John is criminally underrated in my opinion.
