Re: Your Favorite Eddie Solo

1. Hear About it Later
2. Push Comes to Shove
3. Girl Gone Bad

don't wanna sound like i'm doing any bashing here but after sammy joined the band the solos just wern't the same to me!

even after fair warning things seemed to be changing

Also, Spanish Fly, ..Yeah Stiglar, I prefer David Lee Roth, although they seemed to gain a lot of success from the "5150" album, more radio friendly...

Cheers !!

Re: Your Favorite Eddie Solo

I think that overall Ed's tone and music changed after Roth left but I think it's just a natural progression rather than the change to Sammy. I have too many favorite solo's but the first that comes to mind is push comes to shove

Re: Your Favorite Eddie Solo

yeah i agree it was a natural progression you could see ed was moving towards the way of 5150 when listening to 1984 .

i think the fact that the original van halen broke up right at the top of their success will always make it more "classic" than the other versions . you know what def leppard says it's better to burn out than fade away

but that's a bit off topic there !

i still love ed's guitar work on the sammy albums .. 5150 is a classic song ... another solo from the sammy era that is classic is pleasure dome i really dug that song

his most creative and detailed solo is in push comes to shove
his most intense solos are found in i'm the one
his most melodic solo is either in not enough or can't stop loving you, just my opinion.
