Re: FULLPROOF METHOD FOR TRACK TIMINGThe other way to do it would be to set a marker for 2 bars previous to when your guitar track starts and then just drop the audio file straight in.

Re: FULLPROOF METHOD FOR TRACK TIMINGquick note...
if you're using cooledit, instead of amplifying to -244, you can select and then Generate Silence; just my .02 Ben |

Re: FULLPROOF METHOD FOR TRACK TIMING I use a Korg M1r For the click track thru my Tascam 488MKII
then to Sonar 2.0 XL I lay down the "click" track on track 8 on Sonar ,then I lay down the rest of the instruments, after Im done I delete track 8 (which is the click track) Works good for me.... |

Just my 2 cents.
Before spreading out the backing track, please add some clicks from a click track before the backing track and force everyone to only include these clicks from the backing track into the result. Perfect Timing..... |

track timingI tranferred 3 songs files from protools arrangements in 24 bit to 16 bit and dumped them all onto a DVD. (i wanted 4 songs but it only held 3 with the 4.6G capacity). I also put the start times of every track by print screening the arrangement windows in .jpg format at different points to get them all, and named them accordingly.
I then took the disc home, dumped the stuff onto my hard drive, opened my tripleDAT and imported the song files refferencing the images of protools arrangements, and set each track at the start time from the 24 bit sessions, to the 1/1000th of a second. It synced perfectly.

you can also record your piece of the jam and cut everything except a couple of seconds before your piece, then the person who is mixing it just lines up the beats according to the timeslot you have. but that can be a bit tricky at times too...
