I know it seems cliched, but.....

Hey Jammer Dudes. I have put together a 3+ minute loop of the rhythm BT for the solo section of Stairway to Heaven. I did a bit o'jam over it and found it enjoyable to explore, I thought maybe it might be something fun to throw out into the jam room. I know that "Stairway" seems somewhat cliche these days, but, in listening to the chord progression of the solo section, it is such an infectious groove to jam over.

This is my firtst post in this particular section of guitars101. I am curious to see how many different styles we could find amongst the different players that frequent this site. Please post results in this thread here. Now get jammin'!

Re: I know it seems cliched, but.....

Here is my take on this BT for the night. I recorded it a couple of times and edited together the "acceptable" parts. I have learned the first part of the actual solo but it was about ten years ago. So beyond the first 10-15 seconds of the solo, I am pretty much winging it. Hope ya dig.

Yo Dutch. Thanks for posting. I am glad that you enjoyed the solo backing. I ended up pulling it because nobody seemed interested in it and I needed to upload more stuff and had reached my quota of server space. I kept watching the thread for days and no one replied or posted anything. I was thinking that maybe my efforts were futile until you just posted this. Speaking of….

Nice stuff. You seem like you might be like me in that my improv/jam recordings start out kinda rough and progressively get better as I get further into the recording. Yours started out kinda rough and then you started throwing in some blistering scale runs and more aggressive playing topwards the middle and end. You have some technique skils that I don’t, so I enjoyed hearing that.

I have attached mine again since you requested it. This is amix of me playing the first part of the actual solo that I learned and then I go off on my own for a bit because I don’t know the rest of it yet! As I mentioned it takes me a minute to get into the groove and I get a little more relaxed and fluid later in the recording.

Thanks again Dutch. I hope you enjoy. I’ll try to work up some more practice loop recordings and post them.

Thanks for checking out my site, Redemption. I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it. I believe this is the initial contact between you and I. I will check out some of your stuff (by clicking on your little radio ). I know that someone nominated you in the "Who's the Best Guitarist on this Site" thread. I'll have to check into that. Cheers!

Sweet job dude. I like how you kind of skated around the original version while doing your own version of some of the licks without departing too far from the original. kind of squirmy and bendy redition, but smooth.

So what is LPF?
