Jam

Multi - guitarist blues rock jam

Hey folks! I have had an idea for a blues rock jam session. Here it is - lets see how many of you are interested. A few weeks ago I did the rhythm parts for Robin Trower's Day of the Eagle. I never completed the leads, and then my music recording program (samplitude) scrambled all of the work I had done, so now all I have left is an mp3 of the backing track with me on the rhythms. I thought it would be a neat idea if we just turned the whole dang song into a blues rock based lead solo fest! The song is long enough for a bunch of us to pitch in and basicly just turn the whole song into a 5 minute long blues solo jam. Sound interesting????? I have placed two links below - one is the backing track with rhythms only, and the other is the original as performed by Robin himself. I am willing to provide one lead sequence and take care of the mixing. Any takers??????

Rj

The original tune by Robin Trower

The Backing track with rhythm guitar added

PS: Give'm a listen and see what you think - later on we can figure out how long each solo section should be etc.

Go right ahead! Just use the backing track mp3 as your music, and do a lead track. When you have a lead track done, make a good high bit rate copy (ie like 192 - 256kb) of your lead alone and let me know when its ready. I'll mix all this up when its done.

Have fun!

Cool, I probably won't be able to get to it until this weekend, due to work and things, but I am looking forward to it.

Ok people - I listened to the lay out of this tune and here is a how I think we should divide up the time for lead sections (Based on minutes and seconds):

0:00 - 0:14 ---> Intro - no leads
0:15 - 1:14 ---> First lead
1:14 - 1:22 ---> No Leads
1:22 - 1:51 ---> Second Lead
1:51 - 1:59 ---> No Leads
1:59 - 2:51 ---> Third Lead
2:51 - 2:59---> No Leads
3:00 - 3:26 ---> Fourth Lead
3:26 - 3:51 ---> Fifth Lead
3:51 - 4:18 ---> Sixth Lead
4:18 - 4:44 ---> Seventh Lead
4:44 - End ---> Eighth Lead

If you have listened to the tune then you will realize that the last half of the song is a bit different from the first half, but I have tried to divvy up the times as fairly as I can within the frame work of the tune. I would like to do the third lead from 1:59 - 2:51 - everything else is up for grabs ppl!

I was thinking about setting up an FTP site on my server here so that people can upload their parts to me without having to tie up their guitars101.com storage space, and also because then each player could upload his part as a wav file instead of as an mp3. (Better for overall sound quality IMO. Of course that will mean that people will have to be familiar with FTP and have an FTP client. (WSFTP is a good free one...)

Thats it for now -
