Why do you need your CD-rom for guitar port?
And the dma pio thing I think refers to your hard drive.

I think you would most definately need DMA for the HD. Too much going on to have to talk with the CPU all the time.

I dunno, I just followed the instructions that came with the soundcard. It's never been a problem until this weekend. I went to record my part in Cakewalk Guitar Tracks for this jam and nothing recorded Then I rebooted and Guitar Port would record, but at a very low and unusable level (even though I could hear it loud enough). I uninstalled guitarport, then the error came up when I tried to put it back. Then I rebooted, reloaded Audigy Soundblaster & GuitarPort. After that, nothing worked, I couldn't get any sound out of my PC. Took the soundcard out, put it back in, restored the defaults and started again. Still no luck with GuitarPort...just the critical error, then it forces me to close it.

Yep, I've got it and mixed it along with all the others that have been sent to me - excellent stuff mate! This is turning out to be an awesome jam. Finally got my recording set up back and Guitarport installed YAY!
I just bought a new CD Drive for 15 quid and that sorted it all out. I'll record mine later tonight.

I've also ran into some problems with the media card on my MRS8. I knew something was wiggy with it, I am picking up a new one, hopefully today, but we woke up to a bunch of snow here in Nashville.
