Audacity/CakewalkI'm thinking about recording covers and originals and stuff more now that I have the time, and I'm wondering if it's worth purchasing something like Cakewalk's Music Creator or something to get a good sound. Or is Audacity (the free internet thing) good enough?
I have Audacity and like it for what it is but things I've heard about cakewalk make me want it You know, anything to get a better sound

you mean I was supposed to pay for cakewalk.....
...well you are not out anything to try the free programs, and some of the pay programs have demo's so you can try them before you purchase them... You might want to check out the thread on recording software

audacity is ok for like a quick recording just to get an idea down. i also use it for editing song clips together. aside from that though i would say if you want to use more serious gear get cakewalk or protools.

telecasting just answered your question
I too use Audacity like a old fashion 4-track fostex recorder - get those guitar parts down before they fade away. as for cakewalk - i use sonar 4 which provides all my needs perfectly. Audacity is a nice app but you will need some more features if you plan on composing /mixing/mastering a demo... X |
