Audacity vs. Garage band

I am starting to record and I was wondering what would be the better program to use. I have garage band but a friend was telling me that he uses audacity to record a podcast that he does and suggested that I use it in place of garage band. Any suggestions or should I look at something else?

Audaciity is a very cool program. Too many features to mention here and best of all ITS FREE!

I would have to say definitely GarageBand, because it has thousands of premade loops and lots of MIDI capabilities.

For Music I would use Garageband. A podcast maybe audacity.

In my opinion i would use audicity its easy to use and its free, thats what i use to record with my Podxt and then i use Adobe Audition to edit the sound.

I've yet to try Garage Band.. Audacity does the job for me but still giving me latency problems which can be distracting..

I use Garage Band to track with, then Audacity or Ableton to mix with. YMMV.
