Computer Desk or Standard Desk ?
Hi there guys,
Finally getting round to sorting out my office space. I needed to get myself a new chair and a new desk. Well, I got myself a very nice and comfortable executive chair that will be a lot more comfortable than the dining room chair I am currently using.
However, I don't know what to do about the actual desk.
There are the space utilising computer desks that have sections for the monitor and a printer, and a space for the tower unit, couple of drawers, slidy section to put the keyboard and mouse, etc. Or, there's just the bog standard desks.
Now, I was all for getting a computer desk solution, but then I looked at a picture of Goport's "studio" and he just had a bog standard desk. With the computer desk solution, you're kind of tied into that solution. i.e., you can't really be that fleixible if, say you upgrade to two flatscreen monitors. However, there's more stacking space with the computer solution as I could put my printer, POD, etc., in seaparate sections, and the cables would be tidier.
Any advice from you guys, cuz I always make the wrong decision when it comes to this kinda thing...

I opted for this, maybe your taste?

There are other setups there, bigger and smaller, to meet your needs.
Good luck, Mondy.

Hey, that looks like a better compromise between the two I described. You've still got the flexibility that a bog standard desk offers you, but you have that other shelf for extra storage and the sections for the pc tower and the fridge !

Cheers, stingx !!!

Ahh mate, me and DIY don't get on very well... Mainly due to my DIY book describing things in such an overconfident way. I then start things off and it all goes wrong and there isn't a section for "what to do if x and y happens"...
Mind you, if you fancy a trip up to Wokingham with your Jigsaw...

If you are going to spend a lot of time behind the monitor it really pays to get something made specifically as a computer station. Things are usually placed in more thoughtful locations it it is better for you...if you have any tendency toward RSI you really want to pay attention to the placement of things like the monitor and keyboard.
You might be able to adjust a standard desk with a keyboard drawer. I haven't been happy with any desk and added drawer solution though.

Wow, I should have done it years ago ! Wires out of the way, everything within reach, desk and chair at the right ergonomic hight !!!

Went for a bog standard desk in the end. I spend a lot of time at the computer at work, and that's all I have there and it's the most ergonomic setup I've ever worked at...
Pictures will be posted, as usual, when I can be arsed...
