CURIOUS?

I have been speaking to a few people about recording programs. I was just wondering if given the choice of purchasing Cakewalk or Magix music recording programs, which is better????

Re: CURIOUS?

Cakewalk and I'll tell you why. Cakewalk offers its customers huge upgrade savings. If you were to start out and get home studio, you could upgrade, if you even had to for the extra features, to flagship product Sonar for 1/4 the price that someone would pay for it in the store. They are very good to their customers and have the best customer support. They constantly send upgrade notices via email and will bend over backwards for you...all this and they make some of the best software ever on the market for recording.

I have used Guitar Tracks Pro 2, Guitar Tracks Pro 3, and Sonar 3...still have them. I made the switch to Steinberg and currently run Cubase SX pretty much exclusively...this was due mainly to the VST support I needed and other things. I have more than just a simple setup.

Just my two cents...

Gotta agree with stingx! I've been using Cakewalk since 8.0...besides, I don't think Magix supports midi (correct me if I'm wrong )

Re: CURIOUS?

thanks guys. i'll keep checking into it. i am just looking for the pro's and con's for each. I thought I'd ask the people that would know best rather than a store clerk who just wants to pawn their product on me.

Re: CURIOUS?

It is a gift for a buddy of mine so I want to make sure I get all the info I can before getting him something that would be considered a bad purchase.
