Drum Machine-like Software

I hope Im not asking a stupid question, I see some references to a program called synthfont here, but im not sure if thats what im after. Either way you all seem very knowledgable, so here goes...

I own a Boss DR-5 Dr. Rhythm Section. It has a fair amount of instruments, and Ive made a few pretty good rhythm tracks with it. But it is also hard for me to work with. Small, lots of buttons and modes, it really brings out the "A.D.D." I get pretty tense after working with it a while. So as a result Im looking for a software program that does the same thing without additional hardware (midi keyboards, midi guitars). I was checking out Fruity Loops, but I get the impression that its just a sampler.

Sooo... any recomendations? I tried a google search, but Im not really sure what terms to use, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Gus

Look up a program called Drum Kit From Hell, it is very realistic and has thousands of beat sounds miked several ways and both right and left strikes. it takes alot of computer to run though but well worth it.

Re: Drum Machine-like Software

Hi Rilecomm, I had seen DKFH and checked it out. Its a great drum program, but its only percussion. Im actually looking for something I can "step-write" bass lines, horn parts etc. Drums are only a small part of what I need.

I just obtained a program called "band in a box", its pretty cool, but, it doesnt allow you to actually write, or program individual basslines. You have to use what they already have.

Thanx for the reply, ill keep lookin.
