GNX4 Recording

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me out on the best way to record with the GNX4. Seems like from what I have tried best way to get clean sound or even good distortion with out a lot of noise or down grade in the patch sound.

Is to make sure what ever I decide to record I test out the quality of the patch and how it sounds recorded. A lot of times things sound pretty good live from the amp. But the patches recorded sound like shit.

It's really hard for me to figure this GNX4 out I play with X-edit a lot i'll make good effects but it's like I got to rework the effect if I want it to sound good recorded. Eventually it tends to become something completely different then what I use coming out of the amp.

It takes a lot of time. So far the best recording I ever had was this one I am posting a link to. This is a song I wrote and the effect blew me away. I never saved the settings and I did this a long time ago. But I was surprised I found something with the GNX4 that sounded this clean and high quality. I have no clue what I did to make it sound this good. The song is attached to the message.

So if anyone has a patch that sound relative the same recorded as this one I once got using x-edit could you upload it for me? Anyway check out this song and let me know if you guys have something that sounds this clean.

Also if you guys know of any really good rock, hard rock or metal patches that sound awesome recorded could you point me in the right direction with some settings or where the patches are online?

I am always trying to rework my EVH patches they're not bad but it's definitely not Eddies sound lol. Maybe I am just asking too much from the GNX4 for 500 bucks.

Thanks a lot for any help!

I gotta tell you man, I had this exact same problem with my zoom g7 pedal a few weeks back. They sound great through the amp but recordin with the direct link sounds like hell and to be honest theres no real way to make it sound great recording direct.
The best advice I have is to get a line in or USB mic and use that to record. Doesnt even need to be top notch. I got a Logitech USB mic and now the sound I hear through the amp is what gets recorded.

I dont know if theres a preset for recording on the GNX, my zoom has them but they dont improve the sound much.
I hope that helps, and btw the song you uploaded sounds a million times better than anything I got from direct recording.
Good luck!
Nat.

Well guys, when you are recording you need to remember that the output from your peddal is way more then what your PC will handle.

Go and set your recording level in control panel by
rt click the vol symble on your taskbar,
click open, click options, check recording and wala
you now have a recording mixer.
never let your level go into the red.
keep it 3 - 12 below

let me now how it goes
