how do you convert a mp3 to a wma file?

I know the software to convert mp3 to wav etc but I think that a wma file is an mp3 of sorts isn't it? [img]images/smilies/dunno.gif[/img]

My cakewalk converts wavs to wma files but I've never converted an mp3 to wma. [img]images/smilies/headscratch.gif[/img] I didn't like the sound quality from wma verses mp3. The file size is half but its too compressed sounding.

i use a converting program that comes with windows plus......lots of other cool features too.... about $20

also you can record to cd then back in to windows...retrieve from files will be .wma

It's called LAME I think. It was a free program off the net and when you click on a wav or mp3, you have the choice to convert it to either at different sample rates. I'll see if I can find out more about it...It doesn't really have a program as such-just sits in the background BUT I must have the original file I d/l'ed. [img]images/smilies/headscratch.gif[/img]

The basic software which came with my Creative SoundBlaster card converts from Wav, to MP3 or WMA.
I didn't realise it did it until I had spent time looking on the Web for one first [img]images/smilies/icon_doh.gif[/img]

I use dBpowerAMP Music Converter for this. It's free! It converts tons of formats. Just make sure you download the codecs needed for the formats you intend to convert (including wma).
