I would say download the backing track...convert it to wav format then insert a wave file in cakewalk.......then record? Hope that helps?

The pod goes straight into the soundcard (or usb) and you do the mixing with the program. There's no need for an external mixer.

You open up Cakewalk...select a blank track....and import (insert) a file.....in which you select the BT you wish.

Then you select track 2...enable record...and play over it.

Then you mix them down to a single track and post here.

Re: How Do You Record Onto Backing Tracks ?

what i do is plug my headphone jack from my line 6 flextone II into my soundcard directly. then i play the backtrack and play on top of it in real time, so all the sound comes out my comp speakers. i use an option on a simple recording program to "record what you hear". it basically records whatever is coming out of your comp speakers. then you record what you're playing. sounds complicated but it's not at all. good luck.

What the hell do you need a mixer for????? Cakewalk has one built in. I have been recording stuff with 10 to 20 tracks and I don't have an external mixer. You have everything you need with a computer, Cakewalk and your GNX pedal......I expect to see you in the next jam....without going to a studio.
