Making songs with Guitarport?

To everyone who has Guitarport:

I just got guitarport, and it's really great.
My problem is I'm a newbie at recording, and I don't know how to record myself playing over a rhythm track. I can record my rhythm playing fine with audacity, but when I record myself playing over it, it doesn't work (my solos aren't recorded).
I'm planning on using FL Studio software to mix in bass and drums (using vsti's), but I don't know how to do this.
With audacity, I have the recording and playing input set as guitarport, and my system's audio settings are like that too.

How do you guys who have guitarport record full songs, recording yourself over your rhythm tracks, and adding in drums and bass?

I use guitar port also but I use Guitar tracks pro 3 to record so i can't really help you with your question as i'm not familiar with audacity. Is there no help menu or something with that program?

I started the way your doing it too....
Here's the steps you take.
1) Open Guitar Port and Audacity at the same time.
2) Set Audacity to record and click the Player function of guitarport to play back your backing Track.
3) Play along with the backer. Only your guitar sound will record to audacity.
4) After the song has finished, click Stop recording in Audacity.
5) Then import your backer mp3 into audacity and adjust the start time of either the guitar track or the backer track until they are in synch.
6) Get the levels right so niether the guitar or backer is too loud.
7) Export the whole audacity track out to MP3 or Wav.
8) Congratulate yourself!
9) Post it here so we can listen.

dude I got a easy way to record with GuitarPort and MP3 Audio Mixer.
BUT YOU WILL NEED A STEREO - SO PLUGIN GUITARPORT TO THE STEREO.
here it is:

start G.P.

start M.A.M.

and click and drag a BackingTrack into M.A.M.

goto FILE then PREFRENCES. on playback make sure it's you select your computers soundcard device, not guitarports.

on PREFRENCES goto RECORDING then on RECORDING DEVICE select Guitarport.

Know press RECORD button, and select Overdub (record while playing existing sound at the same time).

and that's it have fun
hope you like.

Thanks a bunch, guys!

Thanks a lot for the help, guys. I have an idea now how to record. I don't think I'll have any problems now. I'll try out those methods.
When I get better playing and making songs, I'll post some up for y'all to hear.
Thanks again for the input

Bling.
