MIcrophones

What Microphones do you use?

I was looking at some in shops yesterday, lookin for something that can handle a loud amp and also for recording acoustic guitar. Also reasonable for vocals as well.

if there is such a thing lol

would be goin into pc as well

Re: MIcrophones

I have had great success with the Shure Beta 57a. A great workhorse mic. Kinda like the SM57 but a better range and better on vocals.

Re: MIcrophones

SM57's great on guitars and not bad on vocals. Sennheiser MD421's are great on both.

Re: MIcrophones

The SM-57's are fine for me, but I have found it necessary to use some sort of pre-amp on them. I use a small Behringer 4 channel mixer ($100)...completes the package for me. The Behringer is very quiet and clean and allows you to boost your levels on recording guitars or vocals.

Re: MIcrophones

Another reason why I love my m-audio fw410 interface...2 sweet preamps on board!!!

The Shure Beta 57A is like the SM57 on crack. The range is wider than the SM57. It not only mics instruments and amps well, but far exceeds the SM57 on vocals too. If money is tight and you really need one good, multi-purpose mic, then I cannot think of one better.

Also, there's a sale at americanmusical.com on Marshall V57M Studio Condenser microphones for 59.99!!! It's a blow out sale and they originally sold for high $300's!!! Comes with shockmount too.

Check em out: http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-MAS-V57MMIC.html

I bought one 8 weeks ago and use it to mic my wife's cello and it does a great job on vocals.

Re: MIcrophones

Oh yeah...I recorded the Cat Steven-like vocals on my submission of Wild World with this mic.

Re: MIcrophones

We're taking about the same track? If you cannot hear the vocals on it then you need to get your ears checked.

Re: MIcrophones

Just trying to help you out fallen...let's try again, same V57M mic is used on my recording of wonderful tonight. My vocals suck but crystal clear on that track, no "modulation" as you put it. All other tunes I submitted with me singing was done on the Shure Beta.
