Midi Synching with recording program


hey guys, i recently got a keyboard and i have the midi cable connected to my computer and i was wondering does anyone know what software i need to use so that i can play my keyboard and the computer picks uip the midi info that i can record ? if that made any sense lol .. i've heard that cool edit pro can't do this is that right ? if so what software would you reccomend ?

hope some of you guys know about this cause i sure don't !

you need some sort of midi interface. they have stuff like that in the recording/tech part of any guitar center.

sorry to sound daft here but are you talking hardware or software ?

if hardware my external soundcard has a midi input slot is tha sufficient ? or do i need something extra ?

Cakewalk will let ya play your keyboard thru midi.I think ya set your keyboard and cakewalk to channel 1.

ok thanks guys i really appreciate it .. i finally got my keyboard and am really excited about doing some keyboard stuff on my tunes [img]images/smilies/icon_thumb.gif[/img]
