Need help with guitar and laptop

Hey guys, I need some help connecting my guitar to my laptop. My built-in sound card is acting a bit funny so I thought I'd go with a usb audio interface but the only one I can afford - http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringe...28-i1175566.gc - seems to have some issues with setup. To avoid any unexpected problems, I'm hoping I can use something like this instead: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringe...40-i1154403.gc

My only concern is that it might not be designed for the high impedance signal of a guitar, which kind of defeats the whole purpose. If you guys know of any other ways to connect that will provide good quality sound and low latency then I'd love to hear them. I've heard of using a di box but I have no idea how compatible that is (signal power and all that stuff). If I did use one it would have to connect through the usb since my sound card isn't reliable. It'd be great if someone could teach me a little on how di boxes work.

To let you guys know where I'm at, I'm expecting to pay about $30 but I'm willing to go over if the product is worth it, thanks!
