Need Help with Recording

Hey Everyone, I've asked This question on many other Guitar Related Websites, and I was truly disappointed with the amount of help i received. so I'm Trying it Here.

Alright, My Problem is as Is, I'm Sporting a Jay Turser Strat with a 15 Watt Marshall DFX. I've been playing guitar for a year and a half and i wanted to record my guitar direct to my computer.

I've tried plugging the Guitar Cable direct with a 1/4 to 1/8 plug in the line-in.
Results - no sound, Nothing.

I've Tried Plugging The amplifier In The same Manner, No Luck.

I've Tried It With a Firepod via the front inputs (which i needed to use a guitar cable with a Mike input) - and i got no sound with amp setup, and none with the electric only setup. although, using this same method, i get sound out of my Acoustic/Electric guitar.

Now Then, My question is as Followed, I don't Own a mike, and Using the ones at work are out of the Question, how do i record my music direct to my pc, with my amp attached? Cause Everything i've done now has given no sound.
