recording equipment

ok my band wants some recording equipment to record ourselves but we dont have a computer that can acutally play any recording software. is there any thing that we can just bring to band practice and just get it to record us there for cheap? like 100-200 dollars cheap?

thanks,

if you have no computer then there is no software ? have computer the look at line 6 toneport ux2.

no computer the machine will cost you 100-200 but cables, mics, monitors will cost you more then your lookin to spend.

so back in the day recording was a boom box in the middle of the room.

when it comes to music be prepared to spend some flow man. if you guys are good then it's worth spending the money.

Goport will become famous soon enough
a standalone solution is not going to be that flexible at that price something like the boss micro recorder may help Boss Micro BR Digital Recorder from zZounds.com or any listed here within reason will do the same zZounds.com

if you have a pc/mac a toneport UX2 is a handy interface, as rockinrich suggests. I have one and it is quite plausible to record a whole band using it. Or any other Pro Audio card will do the same job (they tend to start at $99).

As far as software goes - check out the sticky thread on this forum for recording software as there are a few free options listed there.

I use a Boss Micro BR and a Sony ECM 719 plugged into it to record. It very good but not quite a Demo CD quality, its enough to put on a website to promote the band though. We also have used a zoom H4 its a bit more expensive but it has the built in mics. The zoom had better sound quality but the Boss is more versatile and better tone for a guitarist.

I can give you a link to my soundclick site if you want to hear some of the recordings
